So, yeah I make my kids pay "The Raisin Tax" when they get Raisin Bran. Ethan's unhappiness with this has been growing the last few weeks. He's gotten Kira up in arm about it too.
When the 4th of July rolled around he asked why we have fireworks. Helen explained that it was to celebrate America's birthday and our independence from Great Brittan. Then inevitably the topic of taxation without representation came up. When the story really hit home when he realized that taxation without representation was exactly like The Raisin Tax.
Now Ethan and Kira insist on pouring their own Raisin Bran so as to not have to pay the Raisin Tax. I'm sure this is going to come back to haunt me sooner or later.
